Who We Are

    About The Unknown

An immersive archive of ghost stories, ancient legends, and the truths that hide in the corners of the world.

The Unknown began as a notebook — a battered Moleskine passed between two friends who could not agree on whether the world was rational. One was a folklorist. The other had spent a winter in a house that wouldn't keep a candle lit.

A decade later, the notebook has become an archive: hundreds of stories, dozens of contributors, a podcast, and a slowly growing map of the world's restless places. We are not in the business of proving anything. We are in the business of listening carefully to people who lived through something they could not explain — and telling their stories with the seriousness they deserve.

Skeptics are welcome. Believers are welcome. The only thing we ask is that you read with the lights low.

    What we believe

    Curiosity over certainty

We hold space for what we cannot explain — without pretending we can.

    Stories, told well

Every account is treated as literature, not clickbait.

    Witness-led

Our readers are our archivists. Your encounters shape the canon.

    Atmosphere matters

How a story is told is half of what it means.
